Following the awe-inspiring success of the first season MasterChef Canada returned with a bang this year with Season 2.. Home cooks who were aspiring across the nation took on an intense culinary competition that required them to invent and perform under pressure and improve the flavor and presentation. The judges Leo Bonacini, Claudio Aprile along with Alvin Leung again presiding, Season 2 set the bar higher in the form of drama, challenges and personal tales. In the end there was a surprise winner and added a new dimension in MasterChef Canada. MasterChef Canada legacy.

The format was largely similar to the format from the first season, which included mysteries box rounds, invention elimination tests as well as teams challenges (offsite cooking or takeovers of restaurants) as well as pressure tests. As the series progressed, contestants were eliminated gradually as they progressed until David Jorge and Line Pelletier were left to compete in the final showdown.
Winner, Runner-Up & Prize
Winner: David Jorge
David Jorge, a Portuguese-Canadian from Surrey, B.C., was named MasterChef Canada Season 2 champion. According to reports the chef lives on an agricultural property located in the Panorama region of Surrey together with his spouse and their two kids.
Prior to the competition, Jorge worked as a concrete contractor prior to the show. When he won the show at the age of forty, he was years old and was a father of two children.
In the season finale of Season 2, Jorge faced off against Line Pelletier. The first meal (appetizers) Line’s foie gras and lobster dish was a step ahead of Jorge’s, while Line’s tomatoes with sweetbreads that were crispy were deemed to be a bit dense. For the next course Jorge’s wild boar belly and geoduck clams stood out over Line’s tenderloin of elk marinated in butter (which judges found to be undercooked). For dessert Jorge’s lemon curd dessert was superior to Line’s cheese plate that included chocolate-olive bread and pistachio brittle winning the competition.
After the show, Jorge expressed that the victory fulfilled his long-held dream of opening a cafe that was tied to the opportunities and platforms the show offered.
Runner-Up: Line Pelletier
Line Pelletier from Moncton, New Brunswick, was the third place finisher. She displayed a strong perseverance, confidence and an imaginative vision throughout the entire season.
Prize Money & Awards
- The top prize of season 2 of MasterChef Canada was 100,000 dollars together with The MasterChef Canada trophy as well as the the title.
